🚨 TAX UPDATE ALERT! 🚨

If you earn tips, work overtime, have a car loan, own a business, or earn gig income — PAY ATTENTION! 👀💰

Here are some tax changes you need to know about NOW:

🔥 TIPS + OVERTIME: Eligible workers can claim new deductions for qualified tips and qualified overtime compensation under the Working Families Tax Cuts legislation. These changes are already affecting withholding and tax planning.

🚗 CAR LOAN INTEREST: For 2025–2028, qualifying taxpayers can deduct up to $10,000/year of interest on a loan for a qualifying personal-use vehicle.
➡️ Phaseouts begin above $100,000 MAGI Single / $200,000 Married Filing Jointly. Other requirements apply.

📈 2026 STANDARD DEDUCTION:
• Single/MFS: $16,100
• Head of Household: $24,150
• Married Filing Jointly: $32,200
➡️ These amounts generally apply when filing in 2027.

📄 1099 THRESHOLD CHANGED: Certain information returns for payments made during 2026 now have a $2,000 reporting threshold, up from $600 — especially important for self-employed and business clients.

💳 1099-K: The threshold is back to $20,000 AND 200 transactions before third-party settlement organizations generally have to issue a 1099-K.

🏦 RETIREMENT LIMITS INCREASED:
➡️ 401(k): $24,500
➡️ IRA: $7,500

⚠️ GIG WORKERS — THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT!

No 1099 ≠ no taxable income. ❌

The reporting threshold determines when the payer must issue the form. It does NOT automatically determine whether the recipient must report the income.

🛑 Real talk: If your paystubs still say "EXEMPT" right now, we need to talk.
Running exempt all year doesn't mean you beat the system—it just means you’re setting yourself up to owe the IRS a massive check come tax season.
You cannot slide under the radar forever. It's June, and you still have time to fix your withholdings properly so you don't get hit with a surprise penalty or a major bill later.
I built a step-by-step W-4 Form Guide that breaks down exactly how to fill out your paperwork the right way so you protect your coins and keep your money right.
