Things got heated yesterday for our annual United Way of Greenville County giving campaign! 🔥

We brought back our version of Hot Ones, the challenge featuring hot wings and even hotter questions, to raise money and impact lives in the communities we serve.

Our two bracket champions, Auston Spriggs and Ellis Edinkrah, joined CFO Chris Zych and Director of Marketing Marisa Stephens to take on the infamous 10-wing lineup while our host, JDew, put them in the hot seat with questions that were challenging, hilarious, and sometimes surprisingly deep.

The heat didn’t stop there! Members of our Campaign Committee tested their luck with Wing Roulette, and seven additional members of our Executive Leadership team joined us for the grand finale to take on the last (and worst) wing of the lineup.

We had a blast, all for an incredible cause. Together, our team has already raised more than $110,000 for United Way, with a few more days to reach our $150,000 goal.More heat and more impact to come!

Our August Dog of the Month is Chewbacca or “Chewie” for short! He got his name because his hair was so long when Office Support Specialist Kendra Cisson adopted him, he resembled the Star Wars character. At 12-years-old, Kendra says Chewie is a “grumpy old man,” but he was happy to pose for team photos and sleep under his mom’s desk during his visit to the bank – all while sporting his pineapple pride!

Whether you pull up to our open-air teller line or use the secondary lane, where we come directly to you, you’ll enjoy face-to-face service from our team.

We are excited to welcome Jim Gash as Team Leader and Senior Vice President in Atlanta!

A Georgia native, Jim brings more than 35 years of banking experience serving clients throughout the Atlanta area. His background spans commercial lending, loan operations, underwriting, and retail banking. Combined with his experience as a business owner, Jim takes a strategic, relationship-focused approach, helping clients identify opportunities and plan for long-term success. Jim and his wife are happily married and have three adult daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf and cheering on his favorite football teams including his alma mater, the Georgia Bulldogs. Though he says the best football is still found under the Friday night lights at local high school games. We’re so glad you’re here, Jim!

Fellowship, service, and connection in action! Here are a few photos of our team enjoying time together and giving back this summer.

1: Team members from Greenville, Atlanta, Greensboro, and Summerville enjoyed dinner with our Board.

2: The Verdae Retail team tried their hand at padel at the new 40Forty courts.

3: The Digital Solutions Consumer team cheered the Atlanta Braves on to a win alongside our online banking partner, Candescent.

4–5: Our Loan Operations team spent time giving back by packing meals for Meals on Wheels Greenville.

6–7: We welcomed Tin Kitchen to our Charlotte office for a photoshoot featuring their delicious food, and our team enjoyed a catered lunch afterward!

8: Frankie Williams, Addie Clay, and Kim Macklanburg attended the New Play Festival with United Way of Greenville’s African American Leadership group.

We’re grateful for opportunities like these to strengthen relationships, serve our communities, and enjoy time together.

Our team has been able to spend a lot of time helping their community this summer. We're grateful for every chance to serve. Even our summer interns jumped right in!

1: Our summer interns spent an afternoon at The Family Effect and The Phoenix Center's Serenity Place, playing outside and hosting water fights with children whose mothers are participating in addiction treatment programs.

2: Our team packed and sorted backpacks with United Way of Greenville County to help prepare local students for the upcoming school year through the School Tools program.

3: The Credit Team continued its annual tradition of sending Analyst Greg Campbell off in style as he began the Ride to End ALZ, a three-day cycling journey from South Carolina’s Upstate to the coast raising funds to fight Alzheimer's disease.

4: Our team attended the Pride Awards luncheon, helping Pride Magazine ~ Charlotte, NC celebrate this year's award recipients.

5: Our Greenville team welcomed several college and high school student groups to our headquarters for tours and conversations about careers in banking.
