β° 24 days until October 15.
If you filed a tax extension in April, your return is due Thursday, October 15. That deadline applies to:
β
Form 1040 (individual returns)
β
Form 1120 (C-corp returns)
β
FBAR (Foreign Bank Account Report)
The biggest mistake we see this time of year: skipping the deadline because you can't pay in full. Don't do that. File on time. The IRS has payment plans for the balance.
Filing late costs 5% per month (up to 25%). Paying late costs 0.5% per month. Filing on time β even if you can't pay in full β stops the big penalty from accruing.
New blog post walks through what to gather, penalty differences, payment plan options, and how virtual tax prep gets it done in time.
