Question of the Day...”I saw the federal funds rate is at 0, will this affect mortgage rates?”

✅ YES, the Federal Reserve cut interest rates to near zero today. This affects the interest rates banks use to lend money to each other, which in turn lowers short-term interest rates (think credit cards, student loans, and HELOC interest rates) and increases interest rates on savings accounts, CDs, etc.
🚫 NO, mortgage interest rates are not near zero; however, they are still historically low. They went up over 1% last week but have started coming back down. We don’t know if this will impact mortgage rates yet but we are all hoping the trend keeps coming down.

What a week it has been so far.. Rates at 8 year lows.. Spring purchase season bloomed very early this year and by the way, rates are at 8 year lows right now... If you have been on the fence about refinancing, get off! Do yourself the favor and at least give a loan officer the opportunity to show you options that might just save you some $$$$$.. Many homeowners like myself are gearing up for major spring projects; question is, how do you plan to pay for it? Accessing equity in your home is a great option for home improvement compared to high interest rate credit cards. Now is the time..
