When a family calls the funeral home, immediately a ton of questions are asked!
Not to be intrusive.
But because we have to start legal documentation right away.
Here’s what we need:
• Full legal name
• Date of birth
• SSN
• Place of death (location & county)
• Next of kin information
Most families are left searching through drawers while grieving.
Preparation isn’t morbid.
It’s responsible!
Having this information written down somewhere safe makes one of the hardest days… just a little easier.
Some additional info you will need within 24-48hrs:
•Place of birth (County, state)
•Decedents Maiden name
•Education level
• Occupation / Industry
•Father’s name
•Mother’s MAIDEN name
It’s a great idea to keep a copy of your birth certificate, driver’s license, & SSN card in with your insurance policy(s), so your family is not scrambling for this information!!! Keep everything in one place AND inform a responsible party or family member of where this info is located!
