"I have money. It's trust and character I need around me." - Han Lue. How a $4,300 dinner taught me the money is a magnifier...
My first formal dinner as a financial advisor.
12 of us were invited.
We wined & dined!
When the check arrived, I said...
We didn't talk any business.
Yes, Larry, so what?
I'm not blind. I know how much this costs.
Welcome to the club, Larry! You are one of us now. Enjoy!
It didn't feel right to me.
I then looked at the bill.
$4,300!
I thanked the host & offered to stay after to learn more.
What I learned from him...priceless!
➡️ Money is a magnifier!
▪️ Throw money at people, and you will learn a lot about them.
➡️ Short-term people
▪️ Are transactional
▪️ Don't care about relationships.
▪️ Don't care about win-win.
▪️ Care only how they win.
▪️ Focus is short-term benefits.
➡️ Long-term people
▪️ Care about relationships vs transactions.
▪️ Care about win-win.
▪️ Short-term benefits are good.
▪️ Long-term benefits are better.
The host knew what he was doing.
▪️ He threw money.
▪️ Amplified every one of us.
▪️ Saw our true colors.
Always know who you are doing business with!
➡️ Money is an amplifier.
➡️ Short-term people
➡️ Long-term people
When building your wealth, choose wisely who you surround yourself and work with!
