And you know what? In his mind, he did.

I don't just think about saving money. I think about what we can do with it.

This probably tells you more about me than any budget ever could.
I like experiences.
A regular lunch can become a lunch date. A house can become an Airbnb. Extra money can become travel, another property, giving, investing or more freedom.
My brain naturally asks:
“What could this make possible?”
Jerrod's brain works very differently.
And after 22 years of marriage, trust me. We know.

Remember those solar panels? Apparently, they remembered us too.

And here comes the first plot twist.
Years ago, we added solar panels to our home. What we didn't fully understand was how that financing would affect this plan.
Then the title work came back.
Lien.
The solar panels would have to be addressed as part of the refinance, which meant some of the money we thought we had available already had somewhere else to go.
That $75K started looking different REAL quick.

$45K wasn't enough. So I kept looking.

Our mortgage company estimated we could pull about $45K from our equity.
It was a start, but it wasn't enough to do everything we had planned.

So I did what I do every day for my clients. I ran the numbers myself.
Another option got us closer to $75K and could free up roughly $4,000 a month.
Now I was excited.

I had the vision. I had the numbers. And I thought we had the plan.
I had no idea what title was about to tell us.

Okay...this plan might actually work.

We had a plan.
Use the equity in our home to pay down debt, get our current house ready for Airbnb, save toward the next home, and free up about $4,000 each month.
On paper? It looked GOOD.
And after years of talking about what we wanted our next chapter to look like, seeing the numbers finally line up felt like confirmation.
We were ready.
There was just one tiny problem.
We didn't know everything yet.

September didn't go according to plan. The purpose didn't change.

September taught us something we needed to learn.
We started with a plan to use our equity, pay down debt, prepare our current home for Airbnb, and move closer to buying our next home.
Then came the solar lien.
Then the 401(k) surprise.
Then the timeline changed.
But Jeremiah 29:11 kept bringing me back to the same truth.
God already knows the plan.
Our job is to keep praying, planning, protecting what we've built and making progress with what we have.
So this month's calendar means a little more.
The plan may change. The purpose doesn't.

Sometimes love carries a weight you never see. ❤️

One of the greatest desires of a husband or wife is to provide a life where the people they love can thrive. They want to see the dreams come true, create opportunities, and give their family the very best.

But when the vision isn't matched with a plan, that responsibility can become heavy.

Maybe one person loves to spend while the other loves to save.
Maybe one dreams bigger while the other worries about the budget.
Or maybe both love to spend and wonder why it always feels like they're trying to catch up.
