Life rarely goes the way we imagine it will.
When my kids were just seven and four, I went through a divorce. At the time, I had been a stay-at-home mom for ten years, and the question weighed heavy on me: What now?
I had a background as a guidance counselor in the school system, and for a while I thought about starting a private practice.
But deep down, what I wanted most was flexibility.
I wanted to be there for my kids while still building something meaningful.
As it turned out, the answer was right across the street. My neighbor, who would become my boss, was looking for a part-time recruiter at Transamerica. We both decided to take a chance.
What started as a part-time role grew into something I never could have imagined.
From part-time employee to independent producer, from W2/career agent to stepping into a manager role in June, each step has allowed me to serve people in a way that feels so close to my heart.
In education, I protected and guided students.
In this profession, I protect individuals, families, and business owners. The work may look different, but the purpose feels the same.
Looking back, that season of uncertainty was really the beginning of something better than I had planned. And as a proud mom of two teenagers, I am grateful every day for the flexibility, the growth, and the chance to impact lives in a whole new way.
If you need to plan for the unexpected, let’s have a conversation about your life insurance or long term-care needs. It’s not something any of us love to think about, but protecting the ones we love most, or the business we’ve worked so hard for, isn’t just an option…
It’s a necessity.
