Did you know??? A West Virginia charter school IS considered a public school. A student may not be enrolled full-time in a WV charter school (including virtual charter schools) and also participate in the Hope Scholarship. To receive a Hope Scholarship quarterly funding distribution by the statutory deadline, a student’s Hope Scholarship application must be in “Approved” status and the student must have a valid Notice of Intent on file with county board of education by 4:00 P.M. on the funding cutoff dates. Applications not meeting criteria by the funding cutoff date will be funded at the next quarterly funding date after becoming compliant with the requirements above.

State Treasurer Larry Pack, who serves as Chairman of the Hope Scholarship Board, today announced new technology improvements to the Hope Scholarship Program have increased productivity for processing TheoPay orders by 42 percent as families begin utilizing scholarship funds for the 2026-2027 school year. As part of the new TheoPay Self-Serve process, artificial intelligence technology reviews eligible orders under $75, allowing families to more quickly access approved educational items while increasing the program’s overall processing capacity.
