WVABLE Accounts allow individuals with disabilities the ability to save and invest without losing public benefits, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid. Getting started is easy. Go to www.wvable.com and follow the steps below:

1. Create an Account

2. Fund your account – open your account with as little as $25. This is the minimum amount needed to open your account – this is not a fee, rather it creates your opening balance. Once the account is funded and the account is in active status, STABLE account will issue a $25 grant to match this initial deposit: https://buff.ly/FdmJ1K2

3. Save, Invest & Spend – funds in your STABLE account can be used at any time to pay for qualified disability related expenses.

It's a Monday and that means a Myth Buster from WVABLE.

❌ MYTH: To qualify for a WVABLE account, the individual with the disability must be under the age of 46.

✅ FACT: To qualify for a WVABLE account, the onset of the disability must be present prior to the individual’s 46th birthday. Additionally, they do not need to be under 46 when opening an account.

🎤 MEET THE PRESENTERS | ASK THE EXPERTS

As we get ready for our upcoming special topic webinar, “Pathway to Employment & Greater Independence with Benefits Counseling and WVABLE,” we’re excited to introduce you to our presenters and give you a sneak peek at what you’ll learn!

✨ Meet Roxanne Clay, WVABLE Program Director!

We asked Roxanne a few questions about what attendees can expect from this special webinar.

đź’¬ Q: What can attendees expect to learn from your portion of the webinar?

A: Attendees will learn the basics of WVABLE, including eligibility, key benefits – highlighting the incentives for working account owners - how the accounts work, and how savings can be used for qualified expenses. We’ll also discuss what’s new for 2026, including expanded eligibility, new incentives, increased contribution limits, and enhanced features that make saving easier and more accessible.

đź’ˇ Q: What is the most important information you hope participants take away from the webinar?

A: I hope participants leave feeling empowered by what they’ve learned about Benefits Counseling and WVABLE and are encouraged by the ways in which both programs’ incentives employment for individuals with a disability.

🌟 Q: What are you most looking forward to about the webinar?

A: I’m most looking forward to reaching individuals with disabilities and their families who may be learning about WVABLE and Benefits Counseling for the first time. I’m also looking forward to the opportunity to clear up common myths and misinformation that often leads to fear or misunderstanding of the benefits and protections available to WVABLE account owners.

📣 Q: What else would you like attendees to know about the information you will be sharing?

A: A portion of the webinar will feature three real-life scenarios addressing common questions and concerns about how employment can impact SSI and Medicaid benefits. We’ll also share key insights about Social Security Work Incentives and additional savings opportunities for working WVABLE account owners. Audra and I are excited to partner on this important topic and highlight how Benefits Counseling and WVABLE can work together to reduce barriers to employment, support financial independence, and maximize savings opportunities. We look forward to making this valuable information accessible to more individuals and families.

Join us to discover how Benefits Counseling, Social Security Work Incentives, and WVABLE can work together to support individuals with disabilities in pursuing employment, building savings, and achieving greater financial independence.

✨ What an incredible evening at the Exceptional Possibilities 3rd Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser! ✨
More than 60 amazing models shined bright on the runway wearing a variety of clothing brands from local businesses. We were especially excited to cheer on several of our very own Accountholders - Sophie Slack of Hurricane, Christopher Norweck of Barboursville, Izabella Haid of Hurricane, Della Bastress of Charleston, and Jackson Pugh of Beckley! 💙 Also, State Treasurer Larry Pack was honored to volunteer as one of the 30 escorts – helping make this event unforgettable for all who participated.

A special thank you to Alexa Kirkwood, Morgan Goodall, and Michelle Robinson, the founders of Exceptional Possibilities WV, for creating such a wonderful celebration - we are so thankful for the opportunity to partner as a sponsor in support of this incredible event.
