MOMS 2.0 SUMMIT

What an amazing opportunity to connect with other fellow mompreneurs. I’ve told a few people that I don’t fit into the “stay at home mom” but I’m also not working “full time.” I’m home with my son most of the time with hints of babysitting but I somehow manage to “do it all.” This conference made me feel seen and heard that truly, I’m not alone.

While my word of the year was balance, truthfully it’s been survival. Somehow someway I’ve been able to grow my business while raising a human and I’m so proud of the accomplishments I’ve achieved. There has been plenty of tears and uncertainty, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

With that being said it means my boundaries are higher, I’m okay to say no, and I found a new fire inside my belly that isn’t growing a human. None of this is easy, but I know it’s worth it. I plan to talk about my truth one day and excited to launch with something that speaks to me in this whole journey. Stay tuned 🙏

🧠 THE MENTAL LOAD: The one (of many) things I do to alleviate it — keep reading

Per ChatGPT the definition for mental load for a mompreneur is the following: The mental load for a mompreneur refers to the often invisible and continuous cognitive effort required to manage both the demands of running a business and the responsibilities of family and household life. It includes the mental work of organizing, planning, and remembering tasks, such as scheduling meetings, managing finances, keeping track of children’s activities, meal planning, and maintaining a household.

Woof. No wonder why women are exhausted. How to alleviate it? DELEGATING.

But more importantly, what do I delegate?

👏 Contractors to do the work in my business
👏 Cleaners to keep my house clean at least 1x monthly
👏 Babysitters when I need some help to go out and meeting with referral partners and clients.

What do YOU do to offload the mental load?

✨ FRIDAY THOUGHTS ✨

The transition from corporate to entrepreneurship. From all of the social media posts, it should be “easy, carefree, and amazing” to be an entrepreneur. Here are some things I’ve learned along the way from the transition.

🫵 You no longer have a paycheck coming in every 2 weeks to budget with. Your life suddenly becomes more about cash flow and when you get paid vs. a “steady” paycheck

🫵 You have to HUSTLE and have a lot of grit to get noticed. I know I had to follow up even more with connections, follow ups, and posting to connect with other but for people to remember me and keep me top of mind

🫵 It can be hard to feel “off.” When you’re working a 9-5, you can ideally shut off your brain after work and there isn’t as much expectation to work (unless you have a grueling job). It’s hard to feel “off” when you work for yourself, but it is important to take the break when you need it.

What did you struggle with the most when making a transition to work for yourself?

✨ FRIDAY THOUGHTS ✨

When I used to work in corporate, I tried so hard to “grow,” “climb the corporate ladder,” and do whatever I could to “make it.” In reality, it never felt like it mattered how hard I tried, it was still hard to “grow, get promoted, and make so much more money.” Nowadays, I continue to hear of companies laying people off for no other reason other than budget cuts, downsizing, and a variety of other reasons that have nothing to do with their performance.

My husband said something to me when we first started dating that changed my perspective when it comes to work (and now business):

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” 🐠

THIS. I woke up realizing that I was climbing up the wrong trees (literally) and going against what I was good at vs. Going with what I am good at but also what I enjoy.

If this is your “sign,” just know that you are NOT dumb and we all have strengths, we all are so capable of so much more 🫶

🗣️ SHOUT OUT Tuesdays: On Brand Designs

My first shout out post. My goal is to continue to shine a light on people and businesses that have helped me, inspired me, and help me grow.

Branding is a tricky one for people who are analytical. I can tell you what I like, but I am not a visionary to actually create it myself.

That is where On Brand Designs comes in.

I met Kim through a FB Group asking for someone who can do branding to help me create a fun way to execute my brand. With attentive detail to listening and understanding what I wanted, she made my dream come true.

Kim: Thank you for designing an awesome logo for me to use all over my business. You were attentive, thoughtful, and truly listened to my needs. I can't recommend you enough for anyone who is looking for branding, logos, web design and anything creative!

The meaning behind my logo? FM Bookkeeping is my initials backwards, but I wanted intricate detail to leaves growing with $$ signs. I want to help other small businesses to grow their business and to succeed.
