But honestly… with all the hail and wind damage we’ve been seeing in the Midwest lately, I totally understand why more homeowners are considering them.

A few things I’ve learned:

✨ Metal roofs can last 40–70+ years
✨ They’re often more wind and impact resistant than traditional shingles
✨ Modern metal roofs are usually much quieter than people think because of insulation + decking underneath
✨ Some even LOOK like regular shingles now

BUT… here’s something important many homeowners don’t realize 👇

Some insurance policies now exclude *cosmetic* hail damage on metal roofs.

Meaning:
➡️ dents/dings may NOT be covered
➡️ but functional damage (holes/leaks/openings) still could be

So while metal roofs can sometimes hold up BETTER during storms, visible hail denting may still become an out-of-pocket issue depending on your policy.

This is why understanding your coverage matters just as much as choosing the roof itself.

Honestly, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer:
🏠 Some homeowners prefer architectural shingles
