CONFUSED ABOUT THE NEW TAX LAW?

You are not alone. The "Wired Tax Preparer" is entering his 31st year of professional tax services both local and online with clients around Arizona, as well as around the country.

You would think after all those years of practice, one might get old and foggy brained crunching numbers all those years and counting beans. Not yet. In fact, I am invigorated to enter a new tax season knowing the clients that depend on me will need to depend on me a little bit more for the upcoming 2018 tax year filing of their personal income tax returns.

Only upon filing 2018 returns will the full weight and reach of the new income tax laws be realized. For some, a nice (not huge) reduction will be possible in what their net income tax bill is.

But others may get a rude awakening when the numbers show higher tax bills. Those used to deducting outside employee business expenses; those used to deducting other large miscellaneous deductions such as broker fees, professional fees (like mine), IRA custodian fees (that isn't all of them that are "gone"). — will find THERE IS NO MISCELLANEOUS DEDUCTION in 2018 and going FORWARD!

I am up and running with 2018 season professional software. Perhaps, if you are a client, you may want to have a short session to project your possible tax situation.

For prospective new clients, consider the person or firm you prepare taxes with. Few leave my firm, once they discover me. Just saying...

The IRS Has Money to Burn - New Collection Agencies Hired Again!

IF YOU DON'T FIRST SUCCEED, TRY, TRY AGAIN

That should be the motto for this year's renewed quest by the IRS (dictated by Congress) to turn over the small, hard to collect accounts to 4 chosen debt collector firms. They are: CBE Group, Conserve, Performant and Pioneer.

They ignore the failures of the past trying to collect smaller amounts. In 1996 in a pilot program, they found the collectors regularly violated the Fair Credit Act and they killed the program after a 12 month run. Net gain in collections? None, they lost 17 million.

Then, another attempt in 2006 resulted in another 4.5 million dollar loss when they actually thought they could bring in 2.2 billion.

Who is in the gun sites this time? Kicked off in April, only those owing up to 50k and who have regularly been notified of their tax debts, but have decided not to settle or pay.

Well well, tax season is upon us and the deadline for filing this year is looming. But, you get 3 extra days this year as returns must be e-filed or postmarked by April 18th, 2017 this year. (Or you can extend up until October 15th 2017 if you are running late)

Yes, our firm is almost full with a schedule of standing work and appointments with current clients, for the rest of the main season. But, if you want to switch to the Wired Tax Preparer, we do have a few days blocked out to get your tax work done "online" by electronic means.

After preparing income tax returns for Arizona clients for over a quarter century, I started branching out to other states due to my consulting work on large IRA's at death, that extends past Arizona borders. Many of these clients are desperate when they contacted my firm, needing quick help and assistance against "bad advice" coming from a deceased parent's (most often) former advisers.

What developed was numerous clients who wanted me to continue on in tax issues beyond the estates or trusts that brought us together. So, a few years ago, I launched my "Wired Tax Preparer" website to reach out and bring in new clients who also may be looking for an honest professional who doesn't charge an arm and leg to prepare their income tax returns.

Interesting enough, even many of my Arizona clients have chosen the "wired" method to do their taxes even when they still live here in the valley of Phoenix! (The internet is putting malls out of business so I guess it's the trend to do biz online now)

Checkout the site and think about who you know that may want an honest Iowa farm boy with perfect credentials to switch over for tax work or consulting, and share by all means with them.
