Mortgage executive reminds brokers that the Fed has more tools in the toolbox besides rate cuts

Federal Reserve bank cuts the Federal Funds rate by .25% today in hopes that this will start a succession of rate cuts. Keep in mind this does not directly affect Mortgage rates and any decline in rates has already been priced in the current market in anticipation that this would happen. This Fed fund rate better known as the "Prime Rate" will directly drop your HELOC rate as well as your Credit card interest rates as those credit products are tied to the "Prime Rate".

It will take a succession of Rate cuts to impact 30 yr mortgage rates so hang in there and if you would like me to take a look at your current situation, I would say any rates over 7 percent may be able to take advantage of a refinance soon or in the very near future. Rates are hovering anywhere from the low 6's to mid 6's depending on how much you want to pay for the mortgage. I am a big advocate of NOT paying points to lower your rate as their may be future cuts in store. Don't jump too soon as I am guessing you are getting multiple solicitations for companies coming out of the woodwork telling you "Now's the Time ! etc etc.

Moving Update !

We are scheduled to leave Feb 28th and be in Ballantyne, NC on March 4th.

Adding NC and SC to my mortgage licensing along with continuing business in AZ, OR, FL, CO and CA.

I will send out updates and while we are excited to continue our new Journey we will certainly miss all of our great friends and associates here in AZ and please come visit if you are ever in the Carolinas !
