I had the pleasure yesterday to have lunch with a young man. Gab is one of my Crusader Youth Players....it was his birthday. But out gathering ws not for that primarily. It was to celebrate his new journey to Notre Dame College and accept his Rugby journey. life experience and his scholarship.

Good luck son.. play and learn... remember you are a Crusader forever.

Some of my clients are currently able to capitalize on the downside in the market because they added the non-market related assets we have set up for them while other people who wanted to simply "increase their returns" and chose to stick to their other advisor's overly optimistic advice have lost a good amount of money in the last few weeks.

Retired clients of ours are happy about their volatility buffers being in place, which are doing their thing to protect their portfolios. Not only are those assets going up in value while the market is tanking our clients have the luxury to let their other assets recover while the income is streaming in from their fail-safe sources or they are even able to capitalize on the downturn.

Protection and leverage don't sound sexy and attractive until you need both.

High returns are great but they are a lot sweeter when you can protect them from disappearing later.

We believe you should always remember Warren Buffet's rules for investing: "Rule No. 1: Never lose money. Rule No. 2: Never forget rule No. 1"

Also, sacrificing some returns for having access to leverage at the right time will always win in the long run.

The fact is, some people will have lost a lot of money when the dust settles, other people will have bought assets for pennies on the dollar because they were prepared.
