Today we celebrate Juneteenth, the anniversary of the freedom of the last people enslaved after the end of the Civil War. As Fannie Lou Hamer said, "Nobody's free until everybody's free," and today we acknowledge this step toward equality and freedom for all.

As one of the fastest-growing forms of exploitation in the country, we want to take the opportunity to raise awareness of elder financial abuse and how you can help to prevent it. The most important steps? PAUSE to think before you act, ASK a financial partner or trusted loved one for advice, and PROTECT your personal and financial information.
Be sure to check in with your loved ones to make sure they're aware of the risks and know how to protect themselves from financial abuse and exploitation. Most cases go unreported, and asking the right questions (like questioning unusual spending habits or missed bill payments, sudden behavioral changes, or a sense of urgency/pressure to act) can make a world of difference.
