Most people find out when a letter shows up saying their Part B premium jumped. By then the decision that caused it is two years old.

Medicare checks your tax return from two years ago. Sell a chunk of stock at 63 and you could pay double for Part B at 65. The timing is what you can control. Education only, not tax advice

Just a friendly reminder that your Medicare Advantage or Part D plan can change every single year, and most people never find out until January.

Your plan was required to mail you an Annual Notice of Change by September 30. It shows what's different for 2027: doctors, drug costs, copays.

Open enrollment runs October 15 to December 7. Read that letter before then.

Don’t throw away your Medicare Annual Notice of Change.

This letter explains what may change with your coverage in 2027. Before Medicare Open Enrollment ends, check these five things:

1. Did your monthly premium change?
2. Are your prescriptions still covered?
3. Are your pharmacy and doctors still preferred or in-network?
4. Did your copays change?
5. Is your plan ending or being non-renewed?

Medicare isn’t ending—but your individual plan, costs and coverage can change.

Turning 65 soon? Missing the right Medicare enrollment window could lead to a Part B late-enrollment penalty that may continue for as long as you have Part B.

Your Initial Enrollment Period generally lasts seven months:

• Three months before your 65th-birthday month
• Your birthday month
• Three months afterward

Different rules may apply if you have qualifying employer coverage or qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
