I almost forgot to post some pictures from the Centralia Balloon Fest this year.

We had a great time sponsoring and crewing for Fluffy the Dragon and Zulu. Our pilot Stephanie was amazing!

Evelyn, Blake, and Madison all got to go on their first balloon rides, which is always exciting!

Looking forward to coming out again next year!

Have you noticed that the people who justify complaining are never the people who solve big problems? Their complaining does nothing to advance the solution or solve the problem. It rarely adds clarity, even when they're right.

Complaining makes real problems worse and creates new problems where none previously existed.

People who argue that complaining is necessary, even beneficial, are not people who make situations better. They're the ones who make conditions worse. It might be a bad situation already, but a complainer can always make it worse.

You can't complain and solve problems at the same time. You just can't.

You can complain and then solve problems, but you can't solve problems while you're still complaining. And if you need to solve it, why waste time complaining about it and delay the solution?

Sometimes, you can't solve a problem. If you complain about those, you won't be able to move beyond them, either. That's a disastrous position: unable to solve it, unwilling to get past it.

You must solve the problems you can solve and move past the problems you can't. Keep complaining out of your life, and this will become possible. Keep it in your life, and it will stay impossible.

Power. Wisdom. Strength. Energy. Confidence.

What would a 15-20% boost in any of these do for you? What would boosting all of them do? What if you boosted any of them by 50% or more

How do you gain that boost? It’s simple actually. The path is already set.

We gain the power of every adversity we overcome. Want to feel and become more powerful? Overcome more adversity.

We gain the wisdom of every mistake we correct. Want to feel and become more wise? Correct more mistakes.

We gain the strength of every hard thing we do. Want to feel and become stronger? Do more hard things.

We gain the energy of every word we say to ourselves. Want to feel and become more energized? Say better things to yourself.

We gain the confidence of every goal we accomplish. Want to feel and become more confident? Accomplish more goals.

It’s good discipline to evaluate your beliefs regularly. Twice a year is enough. Once a year at least.

Why?

Because you don’t always align with what you say you believe or believe the things you say. Using time to evaluate the disconnects between our stated beliefs and our actions helps us discover our true beliefs.

You can’t state a belief. You must believe a belief.

That statement only sounds odd until you read it a few more times and realize how true it is. Stated beliefs are only sometimes real. Believed beliefs are always real.

No matter what you say or how vehemently you say it, your actual beliefs under the surface, the ones you believe, guide your decisions and actions.

Don’t assume you’re aligned with your beliefs. Evaluate it regularly.

Does hard work guarantee success? Yes, it does. But it doesn’t guarantee the exact version of success you envision or the timeline you expect.

Hard work creates the assets and activities that drive success. Without it, the necessary bricks don’t get made or never get laid. With hard work, you continue stacking bricks until you’ve built something valuable or enduring.

But you might be surprised by the form success takes and the time it takes for hard work to deliver on its guarantee.

You can trust hard work or you can doubt it. If success of any kind is your aim, you’ll find no value in doubting the reliability of hard work.

Strong desire and weak willingness. A disastrous combination.

We see this a lot in sports: a strong desire to win but a weak willingness to do what's required to win.

Almost everyone everyone in sports wants to win. Just as most people want some combination of health, wealth, happiness, love, and achievement.

But when it's time to do what's required to get or keep those things, far fewer are willing to engage in the required actions.

You might think this is a product of modern culture's low attention span, instant gratification, and lack of work ethic. You'd be wrong.

"It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience."

That was Julius Caeser, who died in 44 B.C. Strong desire with weak willingness is as old as human nature itself.

Keep your desires closely tied to your willingness. Because when your desires elevate, so must your willingness.

Otherwise, you'll find yourself among the volunteers Caesar described in the sad, disastrous place too many people already occupy.

As much as we'd prefer to believe our problems began somewhere else with a source other than us, we know better. Our desires and expectations are often the root cause of our deepest challenges. Let's uncover a few.
Problems begin when we want:
1. Comfort without having to sweat for it.
2. Freedom without having to bleed for it.
3. Progress without having to pay for it.
4. Fulfillment without having to fight for it.
5. Excellence without having to struggle for it.
Everything we desire is on the other side of what it takes to earn it. Undisciplined desire will elevate your expectations of reward and lower your expectations of the investment required. Ironically, people who allow this mindset to grow roots drift away from the comfort, freedom, progress, fulfillment, and excellence they crave. That's a common path, but it's not our path.
Sweat, bleed, pay, fight, and struggle for what matters to you. Not only is it the only way to earn it, but it makes every earned thing that much sweeter.
