Freezing temperatures can lead to burst pipes. To prevent burst pipes, let cold water drip from your indoor faucets and open your cabinet doors so your pipes are exposed to the heating from your home. For outdoor faucets, you can use an insulated faucet cover or let them drip. And as always, if your pipes burst, call your Farmers agent to check your homeowner's coverage.

Make sure you're prepared for the snowy weather with our tips:

1. Keep an emergency snow kit in your car that contains a box of kitty litter, emergency flares, a reflective blanket, and bottled water.
2. Make sure your tires are aired up.
3. Fill up your gas tank in case you are stuck and need to keep the car running for heat.
