When Plan A gets rained out, you make Plan B even better! ☔⛳

Last week we hosted our annual Strellner Financial Group Golf Outing, and while Mother Nature had other plans, the day turned into an incredible event thanks to the team at X-Golf Cedar Rapids.

Originally scheduled at Hunters Ridge Golf Course, we made a last-minute pivot due to the weather. X-Golf stepped up in a big way, accommodating our entire group across six simulator bays on short notice and helping us create an experience that was every bit as enjoyable as we had hoped.

A huge thank you to our sponsors, Sean Gilliland and Jimmy Martin, for helping make the outing possible. We also appreciate Jesse Meehan of Financial Decisions Group for sharing valuable insights during his presentation.

⚾ What an incredible day at Miracle League! 💙

Earlier this month, our advisors Eric Kaestner and Jeff Hilleman had the opportunity to volunteer with Miracle League of Linn County — and they absolutely had a blast spending time with these amazing athletes and families.

The Miracle League of Linn County is home to approximately 150 players with special needs who come together to enjoy America’s favorite pastime — baseball. Through the support of volunteers, players get the opportunity to experience the joy of hitting the ball, scoring a run, hearing the crowd cheer, and being part of a team. ❤️

Beyond the game itself, it was inspiring to see the friendship, camaraderie, acceptance, and FUN shared by everyone on and around the field. We’re grateful to have been part of such a rewarding experience and thankful for organizations like Miracle League that make moments like these possible for so many families in our community.

When it comes to financial aid, timing matters more than most people realize. 🎓

Here’s something many students and families miss:
When you file the FAFSA for state aid, you’re automatically applying for federal aid too — so there’s no reason to wait.

The catch?
State deadlines are often much earlier than federal ones — sometimes as early as February or March.

And students who file earlier tend to receive more grant funding on average than those who wait.

The bottom line: aim for the earliest deadline on your list — whether that’s your state or your school.

One simple step now can make a big difference later.
