Recently we had the pleasure of hosting our first "Worth Knowing" event sharing WOMEN, WEALTH & WISDOM. It was an evening dedicated to bringing together a wonderful group of women from our local communities to share a little collective wisdom.

We enjoyed martinis and mocktails in the beautiful space at The Martini Lounge, along with a gorgeous grazing spread from The Hangry Lady. A huge thank-you to these two wonderful, women-owned local businesses for helping make the evening special!

In the spirit of sharing knowledge, we welcomed SEI Private Trust Company, our investment management partner. Calista and Donna shared what's "Worth Knowing" and how Compass Financial Partners provides connection, perspective, and confidence to our clients.

The book swap was a great success, from great conversations to new book recommendations, the evening was a reminder of how much we can learn from one another.

Donna had the honor of being recognized as a TruWomen Champion this past week! 💙

TruWomen is an extraordinary annual event through TruChoice Financial that brings together women in the financial services industry for connection, professional growth, and the opportunity to celebrate the impact women are making in the business.

Donna has been attending TruWomen events since 2022, and this year’s event in Hastings, Minnesota, was especially meaningful. As one of three TruWomen Champions, Donna had the opportunity to share her story, talk about her journey in financial services, and highlight the growth of our team here at Compass Financial Partners.

There was plenty of fun mixed in, too! From a 1920s-themed evening along the Mississippi River to a riverboat cruise, it was a few days filled with great conversations, new memories, and plenty of laughs.

And we can’t forget the signature drink created just for Donna: the “Donna-Rita”! 🍹

We’re so proud of Donna and grateful she had the opportunity to represent Compass Financial Partners at such a special event. Here’s to celebrating the women who support, inspire, and cheer each other on!

Donna and Calista traded the office for the East Coast this past week as they headed to Pennsylvania for a conference with SEI!

The two spent the first few days in PA learning more about one of our partners, SEI, the market, strategies, and their ever growing technological advancements. Then they added a few extra days to explore and enjoy the D.C. area. From the National Harbor and some great photos with the giant Capital Wheel, to taking a water taxi and watching the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, they packed plenty into their trip.

They also explored the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, a unique art space housed in a former naval mu*****ns factory, and happened to catch the U.S. Army’s Downrange band performing outside at National Harbor.

And, of course, they found some time to channel their inner Rosie the Riveter along the way! 💪

We’re happy to have our hardworking ladies back in the office, bringing home fresh ideas, new perspectives, and plenty of energy to put to work as we head into fall!

Out of the Office ✈️

Donna and Calista will be heading to Pennsylvania September 9–11 to attend SEI’s Discovery Forum, where they’ll have the opportunity to connect with other advisors and learn about the latest trends and ideas in the financial planning industry.

They’ll be checking their emails and voicemails periodically, but will be back to their regular schedules on Monday, September 14.

The office will be open as usual, and as always, our team is here to help if anything comes up while they’re away!

Have you been working like a dog lately? 🐶

Labor Day is all about celebrating hard work, and what better way to honor all that hard work than by taking a well-deserved break?

Our team is fully committing to the cause by penciling a few cat naps into our schedules this weekend. If you're feeling dog-tired, we hope you'll do the same!

A quick heads-up: Our office will be closed Monday, September 7th. We'll be back Tuesday, September 8th, recharged, refreshed, and ready to get back to work.

Two weeks ago now some of our team attended the Eastern Iowa NAIFA annual golf outing!⛳🏌️☀️ Donna Jenkins, Calista Bergstrom, Isaak Hahn, and Brenda Fishel all gave it their best swing at the Wildcat Golf Course. Isaak may have carried the team, but Brenda represented the company well as she won both the women’s longest putt and longest drive. It's always great when some of the team can get out, make connections, and soak in some of that summer sun.

If you’re turning 65 soon and are unsure about what it means to enroll in Medicare, you are not alone. One of the most common questions we hear from those nearing retirement is around the timeline for signing up for Medicare.

So, we wanted to share a few important reminders to help you stay on track:

✅Know your enrollment window. Your initial enrollment window lasts for seven months — three months before your 65th birthday, your birthday month, and three months after your birthday. Enrolling early in this timeframe can help ensure your coverage begins right when you need it.

✅Understand how to sign up. Some individuals are automatically enrolled in Original Medicare, while others need to take action themselves to enroll in Original Medicare. This often depends on whether you are already receiving Social Security benefits.

✅Do not delay without a plan. Waiting too long to enroll without qualifying coverage can result in delayed coverage start dates and ongoing late-enrollment penalties.

✅Be aware of other options. If you are still working and covered under an employer plan, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that can allow you to defer your enrollment. However, missing all enrollment windows can limit your options and increase costs, so it's best to clarify this early.

Medicare decisions can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate them alone. Whether you are approaching 65 or are simply evaluating your options, contact us for guidance tailored to your situation.
