Never assume that your E-bike is automatically covered under your homeowners insurance like a pedal powered bike. Most, if not all homeowners insurance now have a motorized vehicle exclusion for liability.

New York State recently changed the motor vehicle regulation to include E-bikes as motorized vehicles. No one under the age of 16 can ride them on public property or public roadways now.

If you have an E-Bike, you may want to call your agent to have a discussions about liability insurance. The cost of this insurance is cheap, but having to hire a lawyer to defend you if sued in an E-Bike accident is really expensive.
