Can I be blunt? There are some things that I just don’t want to make time for anymore. Those things that have become unimportant to me only create clutter in my life, waste time, add unnecessary stress and just plain aren't worth it. I do what I do for a living because I love helping people. After 30 years of practice, I know that prioritizing my time and cutting out the "clutter building" activities is 100% worth it for the sake of my clients, my productivity, my sanity and my happiness! I’d love to hear how you do it! How do you prioritize your time?

Life throw a wrench in your plans? I’ve been there… more times than I can count. Sometimes life’s unexpected breakdowns offer up even better outcomes than I initially thought possible. In fact, each experience has gifted me with one more tool I can use to support a healthy present mindset in the future!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are 3 “mindset tools” I’ve added to my business “toolbox” recently:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Resilience: I can get up as many times as it takes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Resourcefulness: I am discovering new ways to do things with what we have.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Imagination: if this didn’t happen, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to invent a new solution.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m curious: do you consider life’s unexpected twists and turns to be just another useful “mindset tool” added to your “tool kit”? Like this post if you agree!

In Florida, they call a 75 mph wind a category 1 hurricane. In Wyoming, we call it Tuesday. It’s only funny because it’s true! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5 tips for driving in high winds:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Make sure your tires are properly inflated for best traction.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Leave yourself more time and slow down.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Compensate by steering slightly against a consistent side wind.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. Give other high-profile vehicles, like semis, a lot of room.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. Once you’re at your destination, park away from trees and power lines.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I need to confess something… as incredible as it is to have a camera at my fingertips because of my phone, sometimes I miss not having the urge to capture every moment through a lens. I am not as bad with the camera part as a few people I know, but just like the majority of people now days, I am tethered to the phone in my pocket. Looking back, I realize how much more present I was in the moment before i could take my phone everywhere. For most of you, you don't remember a time when people couldn't have instant access to you. While I don’t miss the huge stacks of messages that would build up while I was out, I do miss that sense of freedom from knowing you are permanently "on call". However, being available during downtime has become a fact of life. Now it's so important to take advantage of those times when you aren't working to completely disconnect from it. Meditation, volunteer work, walking on the beach, heck, even Netflix can help do that. Rekindling that relaxed, carefree feeling may ironically take a little more focus now days, but I’ve discovered it’s worth the extra effort. How do you stay present and grounded in the moments that matter to you?

Try as I might, sometimes things just don’t go according to plan. The other day the Court sent an e-mail telling me that the hearing I had scheduled in Denver in two weeks had been changed from "in person" to a video hearing. I had already made the appropriate plans, reservations, coverage, etc. for the trip that was now off. Now the whole plan was changed (even if, for the much better and more convenient). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just remember: even when you follow the recipe, cookies still crumble. But guess what? That cookie is probably STILL delicious… and even if it’s not, all you need to do is adjust the ingredients a bit, or perhaps find a better recipe. Silver linings!!! Speaking of cookies… What’s your favorite?

It’s no secret that I love coffee... but I love the feeling I get when I finish a large project even MORE! Coffee may play a very large role in getting me to that finish line, but did you really think something material, like coffee, could compete with that?! What’s something you LOVE even more than coffee or any material thing that gives you pleasure... if that’s even possible?

How do you ensure everything gets done in a day? Do you use a digital calendar, physical one, or something else? For a while, I just used my phone. Now, I keep my calendar open on my computer all the time showing the entire month. This is the best way I know how to ensure everything gets done for my business like, briefs and hearings! What’s your planning method?

Wanna know a secret? If I had no emails to answer or meetings to attend this afternoon, I’d pack up and head to the mountains for a couple hours, just to enjoy the change of scenery. Where would you “play hooky” to, friend?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
