Whether it’s covering your favorite local sports team or all of your insurance needs, Paul is passionate about all that he does in our community. Congratulations and well deserved!!

Congratulations to Paul Glass on winning First Place for Best Small Market Play-by-Play at the Missouri Broadcasters Association convention! His award-winning call of the South Pemiscot vs. Puxico quarterfinal captured the excitement of a historic moment — South Pemiscot’s first-ever trip to the basketball Final Four.

Paul began his journey with Pollack Broadcasting in December 2016 with zero radio experience. Through hard work, passion, and persistence, he’s risen to become one of the top play-by-play voices in the state. A well-deserved honor for Paul and for KCRV-FM — congratulations!

ECLIPSE TIP: Don’t assume you will be able to look out your window or stand in your backyard and see the eclipse on Monday. 🌞🌚🌞

The sun will be sitting relatively low in the sky on that day which means your view may be impeded by trees and/or houses/buildings.

Here’s a very easy way for you to determine whether you’ll be able to view it as shared on a friend's wall. Just do these two things:

1- Utilizing the compass on your smartphone locate 229° (that is a southwestern direction). This is where the sun will be.

2- Now determine the altitude (highness/lowness) of the sun.
The height of the sun will be roughly 45°.

Calculate this angle by simply raising your arm directly above your head, then lower it holding it out to your side so that it’s parallel to the ground. (You are now at 90°).

Now move your arm halfway between where your arm currently is and where it was when you started (above your head).

👉 This is approximately the height at which the sun appear in the sky and you will be able to see if you have an unobstructed view from where you are. 👈

Disclaimer: Of course, weather will also be a determining factor on one’s ability to view the the eclipse.

Which do I run, hot or cold water?

Run the cold water faucet.

How much water do I run?

You need just a trickle of water to drip so that water is moving through the pipes consistently.

How long do I run the water?

Let the faucet drip until temperatures are consistently above freezing to be on the safe side.

Isn’t it expensive to let the faucet drip?

At the rate the water is dripping, it will fill a gallon pitcher in about an hour. At current rates, this will cost about 2 cents per night to drip one faucet. Much cheaper than broken pipes and water damage!

Which faucet/s should I drip?
If you know the farthest faucet from your water meter, you can run only that faucet and it will draw water all the way through the house.

Can’t I just open the cabinet doors?
Opening the cabinets to allow warm air into those enclosed spaces can help and is recommended. Typically this is effective in the kitchen and bathrooms. That said, most pipe problems happen in less accessible places. Uninsulated pipes in uninsulated spaces, especially garages, crawl spaces, and attics, are more likely to have problems with pipes freezing. That is why insulating exposed plumbing is so important.

Tomorrow is the last decent weather day to get prepared!!

📢 Important Announcement 📢

Attention all homeowners! ❄️ With the winter season upon us, it's crucial to protect your property from potential damage caused by frozen pipes. As your trusted insurance agent, I want to provide you with some valuable information on this matter.

❄️ Frozen pipes can be a nightmare, leading to costly repairs and extensive water damage. Here are a few key tips to prevent frozen pipes and minimize the risk:

1️⃣ Insulate Pipes: Ensure that all exposed pipes, both indoors and outdoors, are properly insulated. This helps maintain a consistent temperature and prevents freezing.

2️⃣ Seal Cracks and Gaps: Check for any cracks or gaps near pipes, windows, and doors. Seal them with caulk or insulation to prevent cold air from entering and freezing the pipes.

3️⃣ Keep Heat On: When the temperature drops significantly, it's essential to keep your home heated, even if you're away. Set your thermostat to a minimum temperature of 55°F (12°C) to maintain a warm environment and prevent freezing.

4️⃣ Drip Faucets: When temperatures are extremely cold, allow a small amount of water to drip from faucets connected to exposed pipes. The continuous flow can help prevent freezing.

5️⃣ Open Cabinet Doors: In colder areas of your home, like the kitchen and bathroom, open cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate around the pipes.

6️⃣ Disconnect Hoses: Before the freezing temperatures set in, ensure that all garden hoses are disconnected from outdoor faucets. This prevents the water inside the hose from freezing and causing damage to the pipes.

Remember, prevention is key! Taking these simple precautions can save you from the hassle and expense of dealing with frozen pipes.

Stay warm and worry-free this winter! ❄️ If you have any questions or need further guidance, don't hesitate to contact me. Your peace of mind is my top priority.
