Q: What does “creating hope” look like in your everyday life, both personally and through your work in the community?

"Creating Hope is looking at things in a Positive Way! I look at Obstacles and turn them into Opportunities. Staying focused and knowing there is Light At The End of Tunnel!

Q: Can you share a moment or experience that reminded you why safe, affordable housing matters for families?

"My experiences have come from working with the RISE members here at the Drew Lewis Foundation over the last 7 years. I have been blessed to work one-on-one with families, helping them understand the basics of creating a good credit score and budget, and guiding them toward qualifying for a home loan and down payment assistance programs."

"Encouraging them throughout the process and acknowledging their small victories is huge. It gives them hope that they are achieving their goals step by step and that they have a team on their side."

"I have been blessed to help many RISE members obtain homeownership over the years. It is always a day of celebration when they are handed the keys to their new home."

Q: What is one small action you believe anyone can take to help make housing more accessible in Springfield?

"My belief is connecting with a TEAM to explain the process, the requirements, and what goes into qualifying for a home loan. Then that TEAM can create a plan of action specific to each person's situation and needs so they can achieve the reality of homeownership."

"My philosophy has always been TEAM = Together Everyone Achieves More. That is why I am so blessed to work alongside the Drew Lewis Foundation. Together, we can provide hope and information that helps make housing more accessible for families in Springfield."

Meet Eric Meruelo: 4SB's newest Senior VP and Mortgage Loan Officer, and someone who's been helping people find their way home for 38 years.

Eric specializes in making sure every buyer fully understands their options, especially first-timers.

A few things you might not expect: Eric is a classically trained opera singer who has performed the National Anthem for the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Royals, and Springfield Cardinals. And when he's not closing loans, he's serving on the board of The Messiah Project and volunteering with the Drew Lewis Foundation, the Multicultural Center, and Hispanic organizations across the region.

We're lucky to have him. And so are you.
