The Newcomer School was the meeting place for the seven founding members of MFA Mutual Insurance Company, now Shelter Insurance®, as they came together to form the state’s first farm club. To honor the schoolhouse’s connection to Shelter’s history, a replica was built in Shelter Gardens and is still open for visitors.
