Two , one NBA !
Repost from The Kampeon Company
Two Filipino-Americans. One NBA Championship. 🏆🇵🇭
Tonight, the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs will tip off in the 2026 Finals.
For most basketball fans, it’s another championship series.
But for many around the world, it’s something more.
Because on opposite sides of the court will be two players with Filipino roots:
🇵🇭 Jordan Clarkson
🇵🇭 Dylan Harper
Clarkson’s Filipino roots trace back to Pampanga. Over the years, he has proudly embraced his heritage and represented the Philippines on the international stage.
Harper’s Filipino roots trace back to Bataan through his mother, Maria Pizarro-Harper. Now, one of the NBA’s brightest young stars finds himself playing on basketball’s biggest stage.
And that’s what makes this moment special.
The Philippines may be thousands of miles away from Madison Square Garden and San Antonio, but anyone who has visited a barangay court knows basketball is more than just a game for us.
It’s kids playing under a single streetlight.
It’s makeshift hoops nailed to wooden poles.
It’s pickup games that last until sunset.
Its families crowded around a television.
It’s entire neighborhoods cheering for a player they’ve never met simply because they carry a piece of home with them.
For decades, Filipinos have dreamed of seeing ourselves represented on basketball’s biggest stage.
Tonight, two Filipino-Americans will be there.
On opposite sidelines.
Chasing the same trophy.
And no matter who wins…
A Filipino-American will hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
