A huge thank you to Adventure Outdoors Network LTTV for highlighting Western Nevada College’s new Nursing Program expansion at our Douglas Campus in Minden, NV!

We are so excited to celebrate this $4.4 million transformation funded by HRSA. This project is bringing state-of-the-art simulation labs and clinical training environments right to Minden, helping address Nevada's nursing shortage and preparing skilled professionals to serve rural communities close to home.

With an 88% NCLEX pass rate and a 100% job placement rate, we can't wait to see the incredible impact this next chapter brings to our students and local healthcare.

🎭 “Les Misérables,” one of the most decorated musicals in history, is coming to the Carson City Community Center next month, courtesy of the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company (WNMTC).
This extraordinary production has won more than 70 major international theatre awards, including eight Tony Awards, multiple Olivier Awards, and a Grammy Award.
WNMTC will present 10 performances on weekends from Nov. 6-22. 🎤

🏛️ WNC had a voice in a national conversation on higher education today.
WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe joined higher education leaders from across the nation in New York City for the Inside Higher Education conference, taking part in an important discussion about restoring public trust in higher education.
The conversation focused on some of the most important issues facing colleges and universities today, including affordability, workforce preparation and demonstrating the value of higher education, not only to students, but to the communities they serve.
As President Dalpe often says at WNC: “It’s not just about getting students in the door, it’s about walking them through it and across the stage.” 🎓
And that impact doesn’t end at commencement. WNC graduates carry the knowledge, skills and opportunities gained through their education into their careers, families and communities.
President Dalpe said he appreciated the profound discussion and diverse perspectives shared by his fellow panelists and higher education leaders.
At WNC, we know the value of higher education is measured not just by who enrolls, but by the lives and communities transformed along the way. 💙

💗🎀 Picture Us in Pink! 🎀💗
The WNC community showed up in a BIG way this afternoon! Students, faculty and staff filled the Dini Student Center with pink during the Associated Students of Western Nevada (ASWN) Picture Us in Pink event, standing together to honor survivors, support those fighting breast cancer and remember loved ones.
💗 Participants also added messages of hope, strength and support the Wall of Hope and enjoyed some delicious Dirty Dough cookies. 🍪
And the pink power didn’t stop in Carson City! Earlier today, ASWN hosted Breast Cancer Awareness Day on the Fallon campus, sharing important information, pink cookies and plenty of support for fighters and survivors.
Throughout October, ASWN has kept the momentum going with Paws for Pink Mondays, Ribbons of Hope, Poppin’ for Pink and today’s Picture Us in Pink events. Together, our Wildcats are spreading awareness, support and hope all month long. 💕🎀

One in five Americans provides care for an adult or child with special needs, and many people become caregivers unexpectedly during a medical crisis. Whether you’re a new caregiver or have been providing care for years, WNC has an opportunity to help you feel more prepared.
Join WNC Continuing Education for “Mapping Out Caregiving” on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The course will explore the medical and legal stages of caregiving and provide practical information to help families and caregivers navigate the challenges ahead.

Current and returning students can start planning for the next semester and register on Nov. 2.
Students intending to attend WNC for the first time can take care of their of their enrollment requirements first and begin registering for classes on Nov. 9.

🦅💙 A big thank you to Eagle Scout Logan Patterson!
The WNC Child Development Center’s toddler play yard received an incredible makeover thanks to Logan, who recently completed his Eagle Service Project at the CDC. Even more special? Logan and his sister once attended the Child Development Center themselves and three current CDC instructors remember Logan! 🥹
With help from WNC Facilities team members Jose and Dan, Logan transformed the play area by:
🛝 Sanding and painting the swing
🌱 Building a resilient surface beneath the swing
🧗 Creating a new area for the climbing structures and adding rubber bark for safety
🏖️ Filling both sandboxes
☀️ Building a new shade structure
The result is a safer, more inviting and refreshed play space for our youngest Wildcats! 💙
Thank you, Logan, for giving back to a place that was once part of your own childhood. Your hard work, generosity and commitment to making a difference are truly inspiring!
And a special thank you to our Facilities team for helping bring this wonderful project to life. 👏
