As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, here’s a neat piece of history with a local connection to Carrollton, Georgia.

Charles Carroll, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, is remembered as Charles Carroll of Carrollton.

Why did he add “of Carrollton”?

At the time, there were several prominent men named Charles Carroll, including his own father, who was known as Charles Carroll of Annapolis. So “of Carrollton” helped identify exactly which Charles Carroll he was.

Carrollton was the name of his family’s Maryland estate, Carrollton Manor. By signing as “Charles Carroll of Carrollton,” he connected his name to his home and made his identity unmistakable.

There is a famous story that someone, supposedly John Hancock, suggested he was not risking much by signing only “Charles Carroll,” because there were many men by that name. According to the legend, he then added “of Carrollton” so King George would know exactly who had pledged his life, fortune, and honor to American independence.

Whether or not that dramatic story happened exactly that way, the meaning remains powerful.

He was not hiding.

He was making it clear who he was, where he came from, and what he stood for.

And here in Carrollton, Georgia, our name carries a connection to that same legacy of courage, conviction, and independence.

After 14 years of keeping us all in line (and somehow surviving us), Brenda Bond Feenstra has officially decided she's earned a permanent vacation! 🎉

For the last several years as our Claims Manager, Brenda has handled everything from fender benders to full-blown disasters with patience, professionalism, and the occasional "Are you kidding me?" look that only insurance people truly understand. 😄

We're pretty sure claims are already piling up just because they know she's leaving.

Brenda, thank you for 14 years of dedication, hard work, and for being such an important part of the Carroll Realty & Insurance family. You've made a lasting impact on our agency and on everyone who has had the pleasure of working with you.

Now it's time to trade claim files for travel plans, phone calls for peace and quiet, and deadlines for whatever you feel like doing that day!

🗣️Attention City of Bremen Residents:
Golf Cart Rules of the Road

As a reminder, golf carts cannot be driven on state roads—this is a state law.
Drivers must have a valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart on city roads.

Golf carts must meet state street-legal requirements, including:
• Headlights
• Taillights
• Brake lights
• Turn signals
• Seatbelts
• Braking system
• Horn
• Windshield

Registration is required:
Your golf cart must be registered with the Bremen Police Department, and a decal must be displayed on the windshield. Proof of liability insurance is also required.

Important:
DUI laws apply to golf carts. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is illegal.
