Know how to turn off your water!
We might will be below freezing for days next week. If your pipes freeze and bust, you will know quickly you have a leak when we start to thaw. It is your responsibility to shut off the water quickly and leave it off until a plumber can repair the broken line. Do not let your house flood. Texas insurance premiums tripled as a direct result of the 6 figure water claims from the last State wide freeze. Many carriers put in limits and verbage preventing large losses like last time. Do not think you will be getting a free remodel from a claim.

1. Go to your hardware store today and get the two tools needed pictured. A key and the wrench.

2. Practice today. The cut off valve is probably buried in dirt when you get the cover off. Dig it out now and get it exposed and ready.

A busted copper pipe should be under $800 to repair. There is ZERO reason to have the $60,000 to $180,000 claims again from Houston to Amarillo. We will have no carriers left in Texas if it happens again.
