We’re thrilled that Carrollton Mayor, Betty Cason, has once again declared November 1st Extra Mile Day, an annual celebration of the positive changes we see in our communities, families, organizations, and even ourselves when we take the time to go the extra mile. Today we’re celebrating volunteerism, service to others, and go-getter attitudes.

As many of you know, going the extra mile is at the heart of the work we do at SMI. Our company has always been rooted in service—to our customers, to our partners, and to our local communities. We’re constantly striving to exceed expectations, lessen burdens, develop long-lasting relationships, and provide meaningful support to those who need it.

This morning, we were excited to have members of our team participate in the ! We’re proud to support an event that brings the local community together for a great cause—10% of proceeds from the 5k will be donated to charities chosen by the race winners.

As we move into the season for giving and giving thanks, we encourage each of you to go the extra mile and find an opportunity to give back to your own local community—attend a fundraiser, participate in a toy or food drive, volunteer with a local organization. Often, going the extra mile doesn’t take much more time, patience, or energy. It just takes care.

We’re always excited to be surrounded by passionate leaders and dedicated professionals, making connections and learning even more about how we can continue supporting children and families across Ohio and beyond.

From demystifying the payment process to enhancing security and increasing access, we’re working to help parents feel more knowledgeable, comfortable, and confident making and receiving child support payments.

What a week at the Western Intergovernmental Child Support Engagement Council (WICSEC) Annual Training Conference! We had a blast connecting with colleagues and friends from all over the country. From sharing ideas on payment solutions to showcasing our latest Kudzu Money updates—and soaking up new insights about the ever-evolving child support space—it was a truly energizing experience.

As we look back on an amazing week, we’re especially proud to celebrate our very own Lisa Skenandore, SMI’s Vice President of Business Development, who received the 2025 Honorary Life Member (HLM) Award at this year’s WICSEC Excellence Awards!

Each year, the HLM Award recognizes an individual for their outstanding contributions and leadership in the child support program. We were honored to support the University System of Georgia Foundation Gala at the Delta Flight Museum last Saturday. The USG Foundation hosted a successful event and raised $4.5 million to fund Georgia’s new DREAMS (Dedicating Resources to Educationally Advance More Students) Scholarship program, a statewide, need-based funding opportunity for students to supplement costs for housing, books, meals, and other fees.

To be eligible for DREAMS Scholarship funds, students will be required to complete at least one personal finance or financial literacy certification module. With this, we’re happy to share that our own Kudzu Money has been selected to be one of two financial institutions providing this personal finance education.

Making financial literacy and smart money management skills more accessible was one of the driving forces behind Kudzu’s development. We’ve seen first-hand how these crucial skills significantly impact our customers lives—from physical and mental health to interpersonal relationships and more. So, we couldn’t be happier to see universities and technical schools across Georgia pushing for more financial literacy courses and curriculum. Through this partnership, we’re eager to help more students fund their education, truly understand their finances, and make smart money moves for their financial futures.

We’re in Albuquerque, New Mexico this week attending the 2025 National Tribal Child Support Association (NTCSA) Annual Training Conference! 🏜

Every year, this conference brings together a strong community dedicated to supporting Tribal children and we always look forward to connecting, sharing insights, and collaborating with our colleagues across the nation on this shared mission.

This year, we’re especially excited to share feedback and analysis collected from our recent case study with Visa® Consulting and Analytics. This case study explored our Tribal implementations of the smiONE™ Visa® Prepaid Card and conducted interviews to collect first-hand thoughts and impressions on the effectiveness of the programs. Findings from this case study show that SMI saves Tribal governments money, time, and stress through our adaptable service options. Tribal parents using the smiONE Card also enjoy enhanced convenience, security, and cost-savings through minimal fees.
