Rechecking a field with high levels of Tar Spot on August 22This field had a fungicide/insecticide applied on August 12 after seeing a large amount of Tar Spot! Tar Spot still progressing but the corn is staying Green. Tar Spot #

Tar Spot is advancing in our area! Scout your COC acres first! We think there is still time to try to protect the yield with a fungicide application. Scout every hybrid as some hybrids don’t have enough tolerance to Tar Spot!

I actually recorded this a week ago! It seems Facebook will only publish so many videos at a time so I sort of gave up on posting! Anyway on volunteer corn! If any of the kernels on an ear are pollinated with pollen from a non gmo or Am product that doesn’t have the below ground trait that plant has no tolerance for rootworm! If the kernel is pollinated from a pollen grain with the below ground it should have express the rootworm trait! Also a corn root with below ground protection will have the greatest expression of the protein that kills rootworm larvae expressed in the root tip or outer area of the root! Once that layer is eaten through and that root worm may die, another root worm larvae can find that open area surface and enter that root system and feed on the inside! That seems like a better idea on how the larvae are overcoming these plants! ??
