In the wake of the recent severe storm, we want to remind our community to stay vigilant and cautious of door-to-door solicitors who may be trying to take advantage of the situation.
🔴 Red Flags to Watch For:
High-pressure tactics to make quick decisions
Unprofessional appearance or no identification
Asking for upfront payment or deposits
⚖️ City Ordinance Reminder: As per Carmel City Ordinance, all vendors and solicitors must submit an application to the police department and be approved before operating in the area. Approved vendors or solicitors will be issued a permit that should be clearly displayed.
✅ Tips to Protect Yourself:
Always ask to see the company’s insurance and license to perform the work.
Try to get references from family, friends, or neighbors who have used the company before.
If something feels off, don’t hesitate to contact the Carmel Police Department.
