Next year’s Social Security COLA (cost of living adjustment) increase is on track to be the highest since 1981 when it was 11.2%. The official announcement is typically in October but it is expected to be around 9.6% with increases starting in January of 2023.

Retirees and disabled workers are on track to receive the highest cost-of-living increase in more than four decades next year.
