🚨Alert on Storm Response🚨

In the wake of the recent storms in northwest and central/eastern Indiana, Indiana Department of Insurance Commissioner Holly Lambert has issued Bulletin 280, which among other things, calls for “a 60-day moratorium for cancellation of any insurance policy in effect for any policyholder directly affected by the disaster events residing within the State of Indiana.”

The moratorium is not a waiver of paying premiums, rather it is an extension of time to pay existing premiums. It also applies only to cancellations or non-renewals that are attributed to a failure to pay premiums as a result of the events covered during the 60-day moratorium period.

Bulletin 280 also implements a 60-day grace period for the renewal and cancellation of producer licenses, as well as continuing education requirements for impacted producers. Penalties assessed during this period will be waived by the IDOI.

Please note that the Big I Indiana is monitoring the state and federal emergency and disaster declaration situations closely and will distribute information on what resources are available as we become aware of them.
