Last week we asked: when did you last actually read your commercial policy?
Today the follow-up question is: do you know what to look for when you do?
Most business owners don’t — and that’s not a criticism. Insurance policy language is dense, the exclusions are buried, and nobody explains it at renewal. The broker sends the documents, you sign off, and another year goes by.
Here’s what actually matters in a commercial risk evaluation:
✅ Are your liability limits right for the business you run today — or the one you ran three years ago?
✅ Are your workers’ comp class codes accurate? Miscoding is one of the most common sources of premium overpayment.
✅ Is your business income coverage calculated correctly? Most aren’t.
✅ Do you have cyber liability as a real policy — or just an endorsement that won’t hold in a real claim?
✅ What discount opportunities exist on your account that have never been offered?
That’s the framework. And a 20-minute evaluation covers all of it.
Our 2-page Commercial Deep Dive checklist walks through each category — gaps, rating accuracy, and discount opportunities — so you can walk into your next renewal with real clarity.
