On June 19, 1865, news of emancipation finally reached the last enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas, marking a pivotal moment in our nation’s history. Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder that freedom is worth celebrating, history is worth remembering, and progress is worth pursuing.

As we reflect on the sacrifices, strength, and resilience of those who came before us, we also recognize the importance of building communities where opportunity, dignity, and respect are available to all.
