SIU Credit Union Locally-owned financial cooperative serving the needs of southern Illinois since 1938. After all, we're in the business of people helping people.

SIU Credit Union was founded in 1938 as Jackson County Teachers' Credit Union. Today, we serve 24 counties and many employer groups in southern Illinois. As a not-for-profit, member owned, financial cooperative, we believe in serving our membership instead of maximizing profits. At a credit union there are no shareholders or investors – members are the owners. Profits are given back to members in

the form of lower fees, better rates, discount programs, and more. We also value giving back to our communities by donating and volunteering for a variety of charities and organizations. SIU Credit Union is our name, but you don't need to work at Southern Illinois University or be a student to become a member. UPDATE: Metropolis branch is open again as of 11:30 AM Thursday. Thank you for your patience.

Our Metropolis branch will remain closed Thursday, May 7th to start the day. Health officials will be there in the morning to assess the situation after the cleanup of the chemical spill that happened next door, and we will update here after that visit. ATM and online banking are still available.

The outdoor "Free Shred Day" event scheduled for Thursday, May 7th from 10-2 is still on.

UPDATE: Metropolis will be closed for the rest of the day Tuesday, and will be evaluated again in the morning.

Our Metropolis branch will be closed for at least two hours today, May 5th, due to a chemical spill next door. The ATM and online banking is available. We will continue to evaluate the situation, and we will update this post when new information is available.
