Insurance Tip: What "named storm deductible" means
Ever notice your homeowners policy has a different deductible for a hurricane than for everything else? That's your named storm deductible — and it usually works differently than your regular deductible.
Instead of a flat dollar amount, it's often a percentage of your home's insured value. So on a $300,000 home with a 2% named storm deductible, that's $6,000 out of pocket before coverage kicks in — not the $1,000 or $2,500 you might be used to.
It's one of those details that's easy to miss until you actually need it. Not sure what yours is? We're happy to pull it up for you.
