Today is Global Handwashing Day!

Each year, we celebrate Global Handwashing Day to promote healthy handwashing habits. Handwashing with soap and water is one of the most important steps you can take to prevent germs and illnesses, and as we enter into cold and flu season, it's more important than ever to make sure you are practicing good hand hygiene!

When you lather up, be sure to follow these steps:

Wet your hands with clean, running water, turn off the tap, and apply soap.

Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.

Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.

Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.

Dry your hands using a clean towel or an air dryer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to educating the public about breast cancer, promoting early detection and supporting those affected by the disease.

The American Cancer Society predicts that about 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer during her lifetime. The good news is that mortality rates from this disease have dropped significantly due to earlier detection via routine breast cancer screening.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, take some time to talk with your doctor about appropriate screenings and encourage a friend to do the same. Early detection saves lives!
