This week the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act will go into effect.

What is this you may be asking? This Act will severely restrict the sale of “trigger leads” in the mortgage industry to protect consumer privacy.

This law amends the Fair Credit Reporting Act to prohibit credit bureaus from selling borrower data to third parties unless they are their current lender, servicer or have explicit authorization.

In other words, this will stop the barrage of unwanted spam calls, texts & emails you receive immediately after applying for a mortgage.
