It was 1931 when Myron Briggs planted the roots of the agency at 15 East Locust St in Canton. In 1942, Cecile Weaver began employment as a secretary for Myron Briggs and in 1953, she and her husband Carl Watson bought into the agency and formed Briggs and Watson Insurance. Briggs retired in 1964 and Watson moved to its current location at 50 West Pine St. In 1969 Milton E. “Mike” Hasty purchased t

he agency and it became Watson-Hasty Agency. In 1978 Mike Incorporated and called it Hasty Associates Insurance Agency, Inc. Two years later, Mike and Gene Sanders created a partnership of their two agencies with the name Sanders-Hasty Insurance Agency. Upon Gene Sanders retirement in 1995 Craig Zilly joined the agency as Mike’s partner and Carolyn Jacobus partnered with Craig a year later. In Jan of 2008 Carolyn retired and Craig formed Sanders-Hasty Insurance Agency, Inc. Over the life of the agency many companies have been represented but Pekin Insurance has the longest tenure with over 80 years with the agency. Auto Owners insurance has been represented for over 15 years, the IMT Group for the past 11, and Progressive Insurance. Sanders-Hasty Insurance Agency is proud of their association with these fine companies as all are head quartered in the Midwest and understand the needs of their insured's. We want to remind you that we write more than just Property and Casualty Insurance. Life and Health is also an important part of our business. As an independent agency, Sanders-Hasty Insurance Agency represents many companies offering specialized life, annuities, individual and group health, Medicare supplements, and various strategies to provide for Long-Term Care. Life and Health companies include Pekin Life, Auto-Owners Life, Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL, Unicare, United Healthcare of River Valley, Mutual of Omaha and others. The Agency is always looking at companies and procedures that can better serve our clients. We are available also evenings and Saturday's by appointment to accommodate your schedules.
