June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month. The color purple raises awareness efforts for caregiver communities and every family walking the same journey across the USA.

Purple is more than a color. It is a symbol of remembrance, compassion, support, and hope for millions affected by Alzheimer's and dementia.

Alzheimer's doesn't only change memories. It changes everyday life for those who love them most - the repeated questions, the forgotten names, and the quiet moments when you smile first... even when your heart feels tired.

Caregivers carry so much that the world never sees. If you've lived this journey, you understand -the kind of love it takes to show up every single day.

Support awareness; support the cause. Remind someone they are never alone. Go Purple!

Roll out those lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer. It arrives Sunday as we celebrate Father's Day! Summer Solstice is sometimes referred to as “Midsummer” Litha”. It’s the longest day of the year. Summer Solstice is the meteorological start of summer. It’s time to enjoy vacations, great weather, pools, baseballs, and everything else that goes along with the favorite season of kids and most adults.

We celebrate all 'Fathers' on Sunday! Some of my fondest memories of my dad are our family vacations in the old station wagon! With 5 children we always had station wagons! We would head from North to South and East and West on family trips! And the start of summer always meant Timken Day Camp time too!

Happy Fathers' Day to all of you!

Today is Ballpoint Pen Day, a June 10th holiday. We use them just about every day. Most of us have several or even dozens of them around our home and office. But, let’s not take ballpoint pens for granted. The invention of the ballpoint pen in 1943, can be counted among the great inventions of the 20th century. Without it, we would still be using a messy fountain pen, or frequently dipping a quill into an ink jar.

On this day in 1943, brothers Laslo and Georg Biro of Argentina filed a patent for ballpoint pens. Other inventors were working on making a ballpoint pen. The Biro brothers were the first to succeed. The ballpoint pen was originally called a “Birome”. Ballpoint pens hit the U.S. market in 1945 at Gimbel’s department store, selling for $12.50 each!! It became an instant success and the rest is history. The Biro brothers sold their patent to Bic.

I hope everyone enjoyed a nice Memorial Day weekend with family and friends, remembering the service men and women who gave their lives for freedom and country.

Interestingly, May 26th was National Paper Airplane Day and then May 29th celebrates International Space Day! What a leap! It is amazing to imagine how much space exploration and experimentation has impacted our lives.

My hubby's Bucket List included watching a rocket launch in Cape Canaveral and this year we crossed that one off with witnessing the launch of the Artemis II and the Orion Spacecraft (Integrity). It was quite the experience!

May 23rd is Lucky Penny Day! Taken at face value, a penny doesn’t buy you much, if anything. It used to, though. During your parents and grandparents’ days, a penny bought a lot of things. Most notably, “Penny Candy” got its name because a piece of candy cost a penny. Inflation year after year after year, eroded the penny’s value.

On November 12, 2025, the Philadelphia mint produced the last penny. The penny still serves a very useful purpose… at least some of them are lucky pennies. Lucky pennies are found on the ground. Not all of the pennies you find will be lucky. But, it will only take one lucky penny used to scratch off the mega winner on a scratch-off ticket.

“Find a penny, pick it up, and all day long you’ll have good luck” – -Author Unknown

Here's my two cents worth - If you or a friend is struggling in making a Health Insurance decision; call me! I can help and it will not cost you a penny!

May is the Month for National Blood Pressure and National Photograph! And nothing gets my blood pressure pumping more than heading out to photograph this exciting world we live in!

Hypertension is a leading cause of stroke and heart disease and it affects nearly half of US adults, often without symptoms. The goal is to encourage regular monitoring and healthy lifestyle changes!

These types of changes include: eating a healthy diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight and limiting alcohol and not smoking.

Focus on that and take the shot!

April is National Stress Awareness Month. We all experience some type of stress in our lives. It could be deadline pressure related, health issues - our own and that of others, insurance issues, loss of friends and family, mounting to-do lists, bills that need paid, projects pending and the list goes on and on.

The important thing is to learn to manage your stress to prevent it from causing other health problems. Each individual will find a method that is unique to their preference - whether it be breathing exercises, walking, running, reading a book, praying, hugging your pet, meditation, gardening or yoga.

Don't let STRESS consume you! Learn to let it go!

Each year Earth Day offers a timely opportunity to pause and reflect on our daily choices, our shared responsibility and the legacy we want to leave for future generations.

Living part time in Florida - a state shaped by its natural beauty and increasingly impacted by severe weather - reminds us just how important it is to be thoughtful stewards of our environment.

We visited the new Mote Aquarium last week and experienced some inspiring stewardship and sustainability projects. Earth Day is tomorrow and we can use this to remember that sustainability isn't about perfection - it's about progress. Small actions, taken consistently and collectively truly add up!

We love and care for our Manatee 'Sea Potatoes' floating in our Braden River here at our home in Florida!

Today is National Doctor Day and I ask each of you to take advantage of your Health Insurance Wellness Benefits and schedule your annual appointment with your Primary Care Physician!

As we age the systems in our bodies slow down and often develop problems. To maintain your health, a regular exam is needed, in order that your healthcare providers can stay alerted to signs and symptoms.

Enjoy life and stay healthy!
