ππ Important updates 2026 π
Medicare Advantage (MA) plans are undergoing significant changes in 2026, primarily driven by the full implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act and new CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations.
Key updates include new negotiated drug pricing, adjusted out-of-pocket caps, and tighter restrictions on supplemental benefits.
Prescription Drug & Cost Changes
Negotiated Drug Prices: For the first time, Medicare has negotiated lower prices for 10 high-cost Part D drugs, including Eliquis, Jardiance, and Januvia, which takes effect January 1, 2026.
Part D Out-of-Pocket Cap: The annual cap for covered prescription drugs is $2,100 in 2026, a slight increase from $2,000 in 2025.
Maximum Part D Deductible: The highest allowed deductible for any Part D plan has increased to $615.
Insulin and Vaccines: The $35 monthly cap on covered insulin products remains, and adult vaccines recommended by the ACIP (such as Shingles and RSV) continue to have $0 cost-sharing.
Prescription Payment Plan: If you are enrolled in the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, you will be automatically re-enrolled for 2026 unless you opt out.
