A message to our patients with UnitedHealthcare insurance plans:

Our current contract with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) ends Dec. 31, 2026. And we are in discussions with UnitedHealthcare, actively working toward a new agreement. However, if an agreement is not reached before Jan. 1, 2027, Mercy Health physicians, hospitals and care sites in Ohio will be considered out of network for patients covered by UHC.

For now, nothing changes. You should continue to see your Mercy Health physicians and care teams and keep any scheduled appointments.

Emergency care remains available regardless of network status. If Mercy Health becomes out-of-network with UHC, patients receiving ongoing care for certain chronic or complex conditions may qualify for Continuity of Care protections.

What you can do now:
To better understand your options and ensure your access to Mercy Health care, consider taking the following steps:
▪️ Call UnitedHealthcare at the number on the back of your insurance card to ask how your coverage could be affected.
▪️ Talk with your employer or benefits representative if you receive UHC coverage through work.
▪️ If you have a Medicare Advantage plan with UHC, you will have an opportunity to make a plan change during the Annual Enrollment Period, if necessary.

1981… what a year to remember.

If you were born in 1981, you’re turning 45 in 2026! And if you were already a kid back then, this one probably brings back a whole different kind of nostalgia.

This was a time when MTV was brand new, arcade sounds filled the air, Atari ruled the living room, Rubik’s Cubes had us twisting and turning for hours, and carrying your music around on a cassette player felt like the future. Friday and Saturday nights meant television with the family, trips to the movies were an event, and the radio gave us songs that can still instantly take us back.

For the ’70s kids, 1981 was part of growing up. For the ’80s babies, it was the beginning of a decade that would eventually define so many childhood memories. Designer jeans, colorful sweaters, high-tops, cassette tapes, arcades, Saturday morning cartoons, record stores, malls and those simpler days before everything became digital.

Looking back at the prices, movies, television shows, music, toys and technology, it’s amazing just how much has changed in 45 years. Yet sometimes all it takes is one song, one old commercial, one familiar toy or the sound of an arcade game to make 1981 feel like yesterday.

Here’s to the class of 1981 turning 45, and to everyone who remembers when the early ’80s were simply everyday life.
