Have a Medicare AEP appointment coming up? A little preparation can make our time together much more productive!

Here are five things to have ready before your appointment:

1. YOUR MEDICARE CARD
Have your Medicare information available for reference.

2. YOUR CURRENT INSURANCE INFORMATION
Have your current Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, or prescription drug plan information ready, if applicable.

3. YOUR MEDICATION LIST
Include the name, dosage, and frequency of each prescription you take, along with your preferred pharmacy.

4. YOUR DOCTORS AND SPECIALISTS
Make a list of the providers and hospitals you want to continue using.

5. YOUR QUESTIONS
Think about what you like about your current coverage, what you wish were different, and anything you've been confused about.

You don't need to have everything figured out before we meet. That's what I'm here for!

Beginning October 1, we can review 2027 plan information together. Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period begins October 15.

Your Medicare plan worked great this year. So why bother reviewing it for next year?

Because your plan isn't necessarily staying the same!

Insurance companies can make changes to premiums, copays, deductibles, provider networks, and prescription drug coverage from one year to the next.

And even if your plan doesn't change much, YOUR needs might.

Maybe you're seeing a new specialist, taking different medications, or simply weren't happy with something about your coverage this year.

Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, and now is a great time to get your appointment scheduled.

Beginning October 1, we can review 2027 plan information and prepare for the enrollment period.

I offer phone and Zoom appointments, so you can review your options with me from the comfort of your own home, whether you're in Iowa, Indiana, or Kentucky.

October is almost here, and that means Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period is right around the corner!

Before things get busy, here are THREE important dates to remember:

**October 1:** You can begin reviewing and comparing 2027 Medicare plan information.

**October 15:** Annual Enrollment officially begins. This is when you can start making changes to your Medicare health or prescription drug coverage for 2027.

**December 7:** Annual Enrollment ends. This is the deadline for most people to make changes for January 1.

And here's something else worth remembering: You don't have to change your coverage just because it's Annual Enrollment. But you SHOULD review it to make sure it still meets your needs.

Growing up, Sunday dinner wasn't just about the food.

It was about everybody gathering around the table, somebody sneaking a bite before dinner was ready, and at least one person insisting you hadn't eaten enough.

And somehow, Grandma could make enough food to feed 20 people even when only six were coming over.

Every family had that ONE dish everybody looked forward to.

Maybe it was Grandma's fried chicken, Mom's pot roast, homemade noodles, or a dessert that nobody has quite figured out how to recreate.

Only in a small town can you find a table full of fresh vegetables sitting beside the road with a coffee can for the money and a handwritten sign that says, "Honor System."

No cashier. No security guard. Sometimes not even a house in sight.

Just somebody trusting that you'll leave a few dollars and take what you need.

And if you're lucky, you might find homemade jam, fresh eggs, or a zucchini the size of a baseball bat!

I've always loved these little roadside stands. There's something special about neighbors sharing what they've grown and trusting complete strangers to do the right thing.

It's Friday, and I have a very important question that could potentially ruin a few friendships.

**Does pineapple belong on pizza?**

Some people love it. Others think putting fruit on pizza should be a criminal offense.

And then there are the people who order half-and-half because apparently their household can't agree on anything.

But let's take this debate one step further.

**You can only eat ONE kind of pizza for the rest of your life. What are you ordering?**

Pepperoni? Supreme? Meat lovers? Hawaiian? Or are you one of those people who thinks cheese pizza is all you need?

Here's a life insurance question I don't think we ask often enough:

Does anyone else know where your policy is?

Having life insurance is important, but your family also needs to know that it exists and how to find the information when they need it.

That doesn't mean everyone needs to know every detail of your finances.

But at least one trusted person should know:

✓ Who your life insurance company is
✓ Where your policy information is kept
✓ Who to contact if something happens to you

And while you're checking, take a minute to make sure:

✓ Your beneficiary information is still correct
✓ Your contact information is up to date

It's a simple conversation, but someday it could save someone you love a lot of confusion during an already difficult time.

A little Behind the Business today...

I'm Tiara, the person behind Benzel Insurance & Planning.

One of the biggest reasons I approach insurance the way I do is pretty simple: I don't think you should have to become an insurance expert just to understand your own coverage.

My job isn't to throw a bunch of insurance jargon at you or tell you what you "should" choose.

My job is to explain your options in plain English, answer your questions, and help you understand what you're looking at so YOU can make an informed decision.

That's especially important as we get closer to Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period.

I can't discuss 2027 plan-specific information with you yet, but I am scheduling AEP appointments now. Once we're able to review 2027 plan information, we'll sit down, look at your individual situation, and go through your options together.

Remember when missing your favorite TV show meant you actually MISSED it?

No streaming.

No DVR.

No starting it from the beginning because you were 10 minutes late.

AEP doesn't begin until October 15, but you don't have to wait until then to get on my calendar.

In fact, I'd rather you didn't.

Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7, and those weeks can get busy very quickly.

While I cannot discuss 2027 plan-specific information with you yet, we can reserve your appointment now so you have dedicated time with me once we're able to review your options.

Scheduling early means you're not scrambling for an appointment as December 7 gets closer.

And remember: scheduling an AEP review doesn't mean you HAVE to change your Medicare coverage. Sometimes the best decision is keeping exactly what you already have. The important thing is making that decision after you've reviewed your options.
