Check fraud is on the rise—and businesses are frequent targets. One method we’re seeing is called “check washing,” where criminals steal a legitimate check, erase key details such as the payee or dollar amount, and rewrite it to steal money from your account.

Help protect your business:

✔️ Review account activity frequently
✔️ Report missing or altered checks immediately
✔️ Store checks securely and limit access
✔️ Use electronic payments when possible

Community Bank team members Jennie and Gina spent a day volunteering at the 49th Annual World Championship Watercross in Grantsburg!

Jennie has always loved watching the event’s fireworks, but this was her first opportunity to experience Watercross from behind the scenes.

“It truly is a well-oiled machine. I loved seeing how a community-made event powered by volunteers comes together.”

Gina has volunteered at Watercross for many years, beginning alongside her children to raise money for wrestling, football and a school trip to Washington, D.C.

“This event brings so much to our town and helps so many organizations.”

We’re proud of Jennie and Gina for giving their time to an event that makes a lasting impact throughout the Grantsburg community! Thanks ladies, for all you do in our community and at Community Bank!

Emma recently had the opportunity to volunteer at Forts F***e Avoine Historical Park in Danbury, WI. Let's learn about her experience:

"Though this was my third year volunteering at the Fort, I was again humbled by what I learned. I spent a good portion of my day working in the Logging Museum cleaning and organizing displays and tools to get ready for the Fort’s opening weekend. Working with these displays was a reminder for me to appreciate things we take for granted like heat without having to chop wood, water without having to haul buckets from the river, and clothing without having to stich cloth together by hand. Living in a fast-paced world, we sometimes forget what it was like to live in a time where your job was to survive. I appreciate the opportunity to give back to organizations that help bring out the best in me.”
