Join the Nelsonville community in celebrating America’s 250th birthday at the Nelsonville Community Picnic on the Public Square. The event begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, with picnic games and activities for visitors of all ages.

Bring a blanket and a homemade picnic to enjoy with friends and family and relax and celebrate on the Square with the entire community. Finish the day with a movie on the square.

🥾 Explore Jesse Owens State Park on a guided hike! 🌿

Join us at 10 a.m. on June 20 for a guided 2.6-mile loop hike as we explore the park’s natural resources, learn about mining reclamation, and take part in a fun BioBlitz along the way!

This hike is moderate to difficult with some steep inclines and uneven footing, so come prepared.

• Bring water/snacks
• Bring your phone if you’d like to help collect bioblitz data
• Pets welcome on a leash
