National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day is observed each year on May 15 to honor the local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The observance was established by President John F. Kennedy, who signed the proclamation designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962.

This year, Chief Ingram and Officers Wanous and Albers joined fellow law enforcement officers from across the nation and around the world in Washington, D.C., to honor the fallen heroes remembered during National Police Week. Today, they stood in remembrance during the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service at the United States Capitol, honoring the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to others.

Today, and every day, we remember the heroes who gave their lives protecting our communities.

Gone, but never forgotten. 🖤💙🖤
