Citizens State Bank Announces Transition to Compass Bank to Strengthen Future Growth and Market Identity
Cadott, Wisconsin — June 11, 2026 — Founded in 1902 and built on more than a century of trust, relationships, and resilience, Citizens State Bank announced plans to transition its name to Compass Bank, a new name reflects the organization’s strategic direction and positions it for continued growth.
The announcement was shared during a recent shareholder informational meeting, where leadership outlined the rationale behind the change and emphasized that while the bank’s legacy remains strong, differentiation is more critical than ever. Leadership also noted ongoing confusion in the market due to similar naming among other financial institutions, in the region this has made it difficult for customers to clearly distinguish between providers and has limited marketing effectiveness.
“Our name has served us well for more than 100 years, but today’s environment demands a clear and distinctive identity,” said Travis Udelhofen, President and CEO. “Compass Bank reflects who we are—a trusted financial partner guiding customers as they navigate important financial decisions throughout their lives. It’s not about leaving our past behind – it’s about giving our future the identity it deserves.”
The transition to Compass Bank represents more than a name change; it is a strategic transformation designed to align the organization’s identity with how it is perceived in the market. The new brand provides a clearer sense of purpose and positioning while strengthening the bank’s ability to connect with customers. Compass Bank’s identity is defined as a trusted financial institution, always guiding customers as they chart their path to success through all stages of life.
Leadership emphasized the change will not impact the core elements customers and communities rely on. Customer relationships, leadership and staff, local decision-making, and the bank’s financial strength and stability will all remain unchanged. There will be no changes to account numbers or routing numbers, reinforcing that this is a forward-facing brand evolution rather than an operational disruption.
At the same time, the transition is expected to deliver meaningful enhancements, including a new name and logo, a stronger and more differentiated brand identity, and improved marketing effectiveness. The bank will continue investing in technology, process improvements, and operational efficiency to better serve customers and support long-term growth.
The rollout of the Compass Bank brand will occur in phases, first with the Bank finalizing the legal process followed by signage updates and digital transitions taking place from July through December. Additional information will be shared through the process.
